PRESIDENT & FOUNDER/INSTRUCTOR
Julia Bowers received her clinical license in Hamburg, Germany in 1986 and practiced as an esthetician throughout college as she studied business. After graduating, she opened and ran her own spa until deciding to relocate to the U.S. in 1995. Julia was quickly hired as a Technical Director of Esthetics at Blaine, a renowned group of cosmetology schools in Massachusetts, where she managed three locations and many instructors. Eight years later, she was appointed Cosmetology Department Chairman at North Shore Community College, overseeing the entire cosmetics, esthetics, and nail programs. Somehow Julia found the time and energy to continue her own cosmetics education and keep her practices up, including permanent cosmetics, and started Pigmenta, Inc, her niche company providing long lasting, gentle permanent cosmetic services at various independent venues, in 2004.
Julia’s passion for education and understanding of its importance throughout one’s career inspired her to open Institute de Epidermie, insisting that it be more than a series of over-crowded, under-serviced workshops. Her history working with the Massachusetts State Board of Cosmetology allowed her to create an advanced training center that would not only expand expertise but also be accredited. To Julia, this is true continuing education.
Wendy Weiss uses her background in marketing and psychology to be the woman behind IdE’s curtain. She works closely with Julia to ensure IdE’s vision and purpose comes to full bloom, the school runs smoothly, and that you are getting the best advanced education there is to offer. Wendy’s ambition is truly contagious, and she wants nothing more than to inspire success and achievement in the esthetics industry through the teachings at IdE.
Carolee Brown has been in the industry for over 30 years and can certainly be considered a cosmetics and skincare grand dame. She is a renowned freelance make up artist that has a celebrity client list anyone would envy and is now focusing much of her attention on the advancement and education side of esthetics. She educates and inspires through her consulting work with advanced skin treatments in the Cosmetics Suite at Dermatology Associates in Norwood and with Pigmenta, who specializes in exclusive hand-applied permanent cosmetics. Carolee couldn’t be more excited to work with what she considers the next generation of esthetics superstars here at IdE.
Marie Tennant has been active in the esthetics industry since 1990. She attended the Elizabeth Grady School and worked with the company for six years, including being involved in their training programs, after graduation. Marie eventually went on to be a day spa owner but realized she missed her work with education. She started teaching in 2004 and became a lead instructor at Blaine Beauty School. Currently, Marie teaches the esthetics program at North Shore Community College while also acting as a freelance make up artist in fashion. She works with spa consulting and is the author of a monthly skin care column in a local newspaper. Marie instructs the majority of classes at IdE and can’t wait to share her passion by leading licensees into endless career possibilities.
